First let me say God Bless to everyone that got hit hard by Hurricane Sandy in all of the Carribean and up to the Atlantic Coast of the US, our prayers are with you.
Now that Sandy has gone away I thought we might need to return to the business at hand. The Hopetown Big Hill Boxcar Derby is fast approaching and a friend of MyAbaco.net has sent us this site where we may have found some new Derby Entrants from 1978……
Just thought it was wacky enough to share:
The Article was calling them Skatecars… I am calling them Skaterockets!
Doesn’t it look like Hopetown…..maybe just a little …. if you turn your head sideways ….. and squint….. oh yeah and don’t forget to add the obligatory cocktail!
Anyway it’s a Great Story with this neat video on www.silverfishlongboarding.com

You see I did alot of Stupid Human tricks on Skateboards when I was younger without the luxury of a helmet. And it was right around 1978 that I was at the peak of my stupidity. Most of our feats involved small hand-made skateboards and the bumpers of cars (as in hold on while the driver sped up to untold speeds) So you can see these guys were light years ahead of what we were attempting, not to mention the helmets! I guess this story just brings back the memories.
Actually I think most of the memories are tied up in pseudo-concussed areas of my cranium.
Thanks for reading!!
